Holy Guacomole - Sam is 6 months old!!!

Our little guy is 6 months today! We had a jam packed day. It is so hard to beleive that 1/2 a year has gone by already. He ate avocado for the first time today and he seems to like it, check out the video. I also took Sam to get his 6 month pictures taken at Sears today, he was cheesin it up for the camera. We got some great shots, which always makes it hard to choose.

Go Bananas!!

Well, Sam has moved on to his next food ... Bananas were on the menu this week. We thought our little monkey would enjoy them. That's funny because Sam is dressing up as "Stinky Larry" (monkey) for Halloween - for those of you that don't know Stinky Larry, he is Sam's monkey friend (teether stuffed toy) that has gone everywhere with him since he was born. You may have seen him in picture or two. As you can see in the video Sam is enjoying solid foods and is doing very well with the swallowing and spoon thing. We also are trying out a sippy cup with an ounce or two of breastmilk, he hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet - he doesn't understand that he has to tilt his head back to get the milk, it's more of a toy for now.

Tasty First's

When Sam decides he is ready to do something he gives it all he's got. Saturday Sam and I had lunch with my friend Lauren and when Lauren was talking to him he started to shake his head no - well of course we laughed ourselves silly so he kept doing it - needless to say Sam is still doing it to get a good laugh. Later that day when we got home he started to baby talk and low and behold the words dadda dadda dadda came out of his precious little mouth - I immediately screamed for Dan to come into the room and Sam continued to chant dadda dadda dadda with drool coming out of his mouth of course. We can't keep him quiet, all he wants to do is talk. (see video below)

The rest of weekend was pretty low key, we went to the Plymouth waterfront and got ice cream cones after church on Sunday and took lots of pictures of our little man. When we got home Sam got his first meal of solid foods - he did pretty good, not sure that he likes the "new" taste (see below for video). All and all it was a pretty low key weekend with lots of firsts for little Sam. We got all geared up for the first feeding and when I sat down to feed Sam, Dan looked at me and said something to the effect of - I thought we were feeding him cereal, I told him it was cereal and he was expecting Cheerios :) Silly Dad!

Monday night we got on the webcam to tell Grandpa good luck on his knee/leg surgery Tuesday morning ... Sam enjoys talking to his Grandma and Grandpa weekly on the webcam - Grandma always has him take off his pants so she can see his Sam bones (chunky monkey thighs). GOOD LUCK GRANDPA - we will talk to you when its over! We hope you are feeling better soon!

Sam's on a Role!

Sam has been sitting on his own for over a month now ... we started to think that this boy liked to sit so much that he was just skipping the whole "roll over" thing. He officially rolled over on Wednesday 10/1 and he hasn't stopped since, he loves this new little trick he has discovered. He is so excited when he makes it to his belly, now he just has to figure out how to get back to his back ... anyway we are so pround of him.

Sam still has a cough from the cold he had a month ago, he has been waking up early in the morning having a coughing fit and it usually wakes him up. So he is sleeping through the night until anywhere between 4am and 6am depending on when the coughing fit hits him. Dan and I are getting at least 6-8 hours of uninterupted sleep now (again) YAH! Since Sam goes to Daycare 4 days a week he will probaly have a cold all winter, which means Dan and I will probaly get in on a round of the cold a time or two - Fun Times with boogery noses this winter. I will be stocking up on tissue (the soft kind).

Sam is starting to mimic things. Dan blows raspberries and Sam joins in with belly laughs to follow. I smooch (kiss) on Sam every chance I get and now he is learning how to give smoochies back to mommy ... Dan took some video, it is the cutest thing in the world.

I think our little man is ready to start eating solid foods ... I am trying to wait until he is closer to 6months old, but we are ready and waiting. Sam and I picked up his highchair, splat mat, baby spoons (turn color if food is to hot - totally cool!), bowls, and of course Rice Cereal at Babies R Us on Wednesday (my day off). He is starting to show the signs - he is constantly grabbing for our food if is sitting on our laps and he is interested in drinks - he can be playing on the floor and if I take a drink he stops everything to watch. So keep your eyes peeled for video when that starts. I am reading Super Baby Foods and I am convinced that I can make Sam's baby food for a while - just call me Martha Stewart ... I will give it a try and see how it goes.

A couple of weeks ago Sam and I went apple picking (first time for Sam and I) with our friends Amy, Ciara and Sean. We had fun. Below are some pictures from the trip.

What can I say this kid loves apple picking

The apple of our eye!

If you can't eat the apples, this is the next best thing
